Why I'm Tired Of Novel Transmigration Genres
The novel transmigration genre has been a mainstay in literature for over a decade now. It's a genre that sees a protagonist from the modern world being transported to a new one, usually a fantasy world, with all its different races and magical elements. The protagonist often has some kind of special power that allows them to navigate the new world and to make a difference in it.
It's a genre that I have enjoyed and read many books from over the years, and I still enjoy reading some books from the genre now. However, I'm starting to get tired of it. Here's why.
Standardized Plots
One of the main reasons why I'm getting tired of the novel transmigration genre is because of how standardized the plots are. So many of the books I read follow the same basic plot structure.
The protagonist is transported to a new world. They find out that they have special powers that allow them to do things that no one else can do. They then go on a journey in order to reach their goal, and along the way, they make allies, defeat enemies, and learn more about the new world.
It's a plot structure that I've seen a hundred times before, and it's getting a bit stale.
Stereotypical Characters
Another reason why I'm getting tired of the novel transmigration genre is because of the stereotypical characters. So many of the protagonists are the same. They are usually very powerful but also have a kind heart. They are also usually very naive and make a lot of mistakes.
The supporting characters are also usually very one-dimensional and don't have much of a personality. They are either the wise mentor, the loyal friend, the jealous rival, or the evil villain.
It's getting a bit old seeing the same characters over and over again in different books.
Dependence on Clichés
The novel transmigration genre is also very dependent on clichés. So many of the books rely on the same tropes and plot devices that have been used a hundred times before.
For example, there is always the scene where the protagonist has to fight a powerful enemy and just when it looks like they are about to lose, they find a hidden power that allows them to turn the tide of battle. Or the scene where the protagonist has to make a difficult decision and they choose the most noble and selfless option, even though it has consequences for them.
These scenes and plot devices have been used so many times before, and it's getting a bit tiresome seeing them again and again.
Lack of Innovation
The novel transmigration genre also lacks innovation. So many of the books use the same basic plot structure and don't really try to do anything new or different.
There have been some interesting books in the genre, but they are few and far between. It's a shame that authors aren't pushing the boundaries of the genre and trying to do something new and different.
Conclusion
The novel transmigration genre is one that I have enjoyed over the years, but I'm starting to get tired of it. The plots are too standardized, the characters are stereotypical, and there is a lack of innovation. Hopefully, authors will start to push the boundaries of the genre and try to do something new and different.
